Registration forms with payment can be also mailed to the Eastside
Enhancement Center. Registration forms without the proper payment
WILL NOT be accepted under any circumstances.
What are your payment policies?
We accept cash, checks, or money order. Payment must be received at the
time of registration for ALL forms to be processed. When paying with cash,
the customer should make the best attempt possible to have exact change.
The recreation department is not always able to guarantee making change for
customers. All checks should be made out to Dinwiddie County Parks and
Recreation.
What is the deadline to register for a program?
Programs and classes must reach their minimum enrollment number one (1)
week prior to the start of the first class.

Each program has different requirements in regards to residency. For the
programs that do allow for non-residents to register a $10.00 non-resident
fee is charged.
Can I register for a class online?
Yes. Participants can register using the ActiveNet link located on the page.
Do I have to fill out all the information on the registration form?
Yes. All information needs to be filled out for the form to be valid.
Can I still sign up after the registration deadline?
If a class has hit its minimum enrollment by the registration deadline, you
can register until the day the class starts. It is still beneficial to register early
to ensure that the class hits its minimum number, and to be guaranteed a spot
before it fills up.
Facilities
What days can I reserve your building?
Monday – Thursday from 11:00am to 8:00pm
Does the Parks and Recreation Department have a swimming pool?
No. But we do offer classes through the Petersburg Family YMCA utilizing
their swimming pool. Through close cooperation between the Dinwiddie
Parks and Recreation Department and the Southside Family YMCA,
residents of Dinwiddie County can take swimming programs. Residents
simply need to sign up through the Dinwiddie Recreation Department, and
we’ll take care of the rest.
Why is security required for an event that has alcohol?
Security provided by the Dinwiddie Sheriff’s Department is required to
maintain the safety for all persons present at the Enhancement Center during
the event. Having security also decreases the chances of the Enhancement
Center being damaged or vandalized.
Why can’t I write a check for an event I am a part of if my name is not on the
application?
All check payments need to be taken from the person whose name is on the
facility reservation application unless paying in cash. The person making
the application must also attend the event.
Can I reserve the room over the phone, and come to fill out the paper work
tomorrow?
No. We do not hold tentative reservations. All paperwork must be taken in
person, by the applicant, NO EXCEPTIONS.
Why do I need security at my event if I am going to be there to chaperone?
An on-duty Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Deputy reserved by the Recreation
Department must be present during events for teenagers or any event with
alcohol to maintain the safety for all persons present at the Enhancement
Center during the event. Having security also decreases the chances of the
Enhancement Center being damaged or vandalized.
